About This App and Its Developer

This policy applies to Active Kids - Parental Control, the Android app with package ID io.opuswork.theactivekid. The Google Play developer name for this app is Opus Work ("we," "us," or "our").

1. Data We Collect

• Account info: Name, email, profile picture.
• Kid profiles: Names, dates of birth, profile images.
• Activity data: Points, tasks, requests, timestamps.
• Health data (optional): With your permission, the app reads step-count records from Apple HealthKit on iOS or Health Connect on Android. Step records are processed into daily step totals. We do not request other health data types through this integration.
• Device and app data: Platform, app version, and sync status needed to operate and troubleshoot the app.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To operate family accounts, display activity and school records, and maintain points and screen-time settings.
• To use daily step totals for optional step goals, achievements, and related bonus points.
• To support account access and app features, including QR login and notifications.
• To improve the app (bug fixes, new features).
• We do not sell personal information or use Health data for advertising.

3. Health Data: Access, Storage, and Control

• Access: The app requests read-only access to step counts. It does not write data to Apple Health or Health Connect.
• Use: Step counts are grouped by date and used for the optional step-goal and achievement features described above.
• Storage: Daily totals and their dates are synced to the relevant child's family account in Firebase Cloud Firestore. The app also keeps a local device cache of daily totals and sync timestamps so it can avoid unnecessary syncing and detect changes.
• Sharing: Firebase, operated by Google, processes and stores the synced totals on our behalf. Totals are available within the associated family account to support the app's parent and child features. We do not sell this data or share it for advertising.
• Control: Step tracking is optional. You can turn it off in the app and revoke the app's step permission in Apple Health settings or Health Connect app permissions. Revoking permission stops future reads; it does not by itself delete totals already synced to the family account.

4. How We Share Data

• Within your family: Account data is used by the parent and child features associated with that family account.
• Service providers: Firebase services operated by Google provide authentication, database, and file storage for the app. They process information on our behalf to provide these services.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose if required by law.

5. Storage & Security

• Data is stored securely in Firebase Cloud Firestore and Storage.
• We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
• You are responsible for choosing a strong password.

6. Cookies & Tracking

• We use minimal cookies/local storage to keep you logged in and remember preferences.
• You can clear cookies or disable storage, but some features may not work.

7. Your Rights

• Access & Portability: Request a copy of your data.
• Correction: Ask us to fix inaccuracies.
• Deletion: You can delete your account any time; we'll remove your personal data within 30 days (except data we must retain for legal reasons).

8. Children's Privacy

If a child under 13 (or the local minimum age) uses the app, their parent must provide consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy. We'll post the updated date at the top; continued use after changes means you accept them.
